Calling Future Drilling Engineers! Repsol is seeking a highly motivated engineering student to join our Wells Exploration Team in Anchorage, Alaska for the Summer 2027 internship program.
Are you interested in designing wells, solving complex engineering challenges, and supporting the next generation of Alaska exploration projects? Join Repsol's Wells Exploration Team and gain hands-on experience supporting the planning and preparation of an Alaska exploration drilling campaign. You'll help transform engineering data into actionable insights while seeing how exploration wells move from concept to execution.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the planning of the Silverwind Exploration Project, one of Repsol's key Alaska exploration initiatives. Working alongside experienced drilling engineers and technical professionals, you'll gain hands-on exposure to well planning, well engineering, project execution, performance analysis, and operational readiness activities.
This opportunity is geared toward students pursuing Petroleum Engineering (preferred), Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering disciplines who are interested in careers in drilling engineering, well construction, and upstream operations. Preference will be given to students attending Alaska universities and colleges.

As a Drilling Engineering Intern, you will:

What You'll Do
The Drilling Engineering Intern will support the Wells team in the planning and preparation of drilling activities for the Silverwind Exploration Project.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting drilling engineers with well planning activities, engineering calculations, technical evaluations, data analysis, and documentation.
- Developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards to track drilling KPIs, project schedules, costs, tendering progress, and performance metrics.
- Creating and enhancing Excel-based engineering tools, reports, and project databases.
- Assisting with well programs, engineering reports, technical presentations, and project updates.
- Organizing and analyzing offset well data, benchmarking information, and lessons learned from previous drilling campaigns.
- Supporting drilling cost tracking, performance analysis, and operational readiness efforts.
- Collaborating with Wells, HSE, Supply Chain, Logistics, Subsurface, and other project teams.
- Presenting project findings, recommendations, and key learnings to Repsol leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
Required Qualifications
- Authorized to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. Repsol is unable to sponsor employment under OPT/CPT/F-1 visa programs.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering (preferred), Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- This internship is ideal for current junior-level students. Students with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028 are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, verified through an unofficial transcript.
- Available for the full internship period from May 17, 2027 through August 6, 2027.
- Demonstrated interest in drilling engineering, well construction, exploration projects, and the oil and gas industry.
- Power BI experience preferred, including dashboard development and data visualization.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and engineering data analysis.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and communicate meaningful insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and initiative.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Internship Details
- Position will be based in Anchorage, Alaska.
- Interns are expected to work onsite throughout the internship.
- Preference will be given to students attending Alaska universities and colleges.
- Non-local candidates may be considered but must arrange their own travel and temporary accommodations. A summer stipend will be provided to help offset eligible out-of-pocket expenses.
- Interns will receive an hourly wage and will be compensated for observed company holidays.
- Interns are not eligible for company benefits or paid time off.
- The internship culminates in a formal presentation highlighting project results, recommendations, and key learnings.
