Senior Software Engineer, Equity Derivatives - PFT (Backend)

Your role

We’re looking for a Java developer to:
- • oversee projects, drive deliveries and fully hands‑on designing and implementing high quality technical solutions
- • design, develop and support front‑office trading applications, working closely with business users to translate complex business and regulatory requirements into innovative solutions
- • apply a broad range of software engineering practices to ensure the quality, security, reliability, and compliance of our solutions, focusing on both functional and non‑functional needs
- • work closely with the global team to further develop and innovate the Quoting applications – building observability into our solutions, monitor production health, help to resolve incidents, and remediate the root cause of risks and issues
- • share knowledge and technical expertise, excellent team player with experience leading or mentoring more junior colleagues, contributing regularly to our engineering culture and internal communities
- • have a working familiarity with current state of AI development tooling, preferably including GitHub Copilot, in order to advance our AI‑first development initiatives

Your team
In our agile operating model, crews are aligned to larger products and services fulfilling client needs and encompass multiple autonomous pods. You’ll be working in the Principal Flow Trading stream based in Hong Kong as part of the Equity Derivatives Quoting team. You will be part of a global development team, working closely with the front office to build out and support automated electronic trading applications.
Your expertise
- • experienced hands‑on engineer with over 15 years of expertise in Java (Core Java), low‑latency algorithmic trading systems, Oracle, Linux, scripting, test‑driven development, Agile methodologies, and object‑oriented design principles
- • experience working in a front‑office environment, comfortable engaging directly with the business, with strong familiarity in the relevant business domain and hands‑on experience with real‑time trading platforms, including Warrants, Listed Options, Futures, Market Making, and market connectivity are an advantage
- • sufficiently advanced Java expertise as well as the interest in learning new technologies and practices
- • experiences with prompt engineering, generative AI platforms, and the proven ability to integrate AI into existing business workflows highly desirable.
- • a collaborative team player experienced in mentoring junior colleagues, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, strong planning and organizational capabilities, and the ability to thrive in high‑pressure environments
- • you’re curious to explore how AI can improve how we build, deliver, and optimize workflows. You do this with sound judgment – validating outputs and aligning with policies, risk standards, and ethical use.
