Your role
Are you passionate about delivering robust and scalable algorithmic trading stack? Are you motivated to deliver real business value? We are looking for someone to:
- • Work as part of a Front Office Algo Development team responsible for the delivery of software for the firm’s Agency Trading electronic-trading business, with a focus on the APAC Algos Book-of-Work.
- • Analyse complex business algorithmic execution requirements, collaborate with Quants, Traders and other global IT teams across regions to design and implement solutions in an agile iterative way.
- • Help deliver our global platform target-state architecture – implement functionalities and features that enable our global Algo Trading platform to adapt to the APAC Market microstructure; enhance the distributed system architecture to meet our next generation capacity and performance requirements.
- • Ensure that enterprise requirements on cyber-security, platform hosting and application monitoring are met.
- • Increase automated testing of distributed algo-engine components; evolve our simulation test-harness to support additional algo and model testing scenarios.
- • Perform level 3 support and assist production operations team in release related matters.

Your team
You will be working in the Front Office Algo Development Team as part of SDL in Shanghai reporting to the APAC Algos Senior / Lead Developer. We are responsible for providing best in class, award winning Execution Trading Algorithms, Smart Order Routing (SOR), Internalization and Direct Market Access for a global client base both internally and externally across Equities, Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD) and FX asset classes.
Your expertise
You have:
- • First class knowledge of Core Java (you are excellent at this); C++, Python and/or KDB experience is a plus.
- • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex, interdependent systems.
- • Around 5+ years’ experience of developing, delivering and maintaining software in a real-time, event-driven, distributed application environment.
- • Prior experience in Algo Trading and/or SOR Development is preferred.
- • Successfully applied solutions to meet non-functional requirements such as stability, capacity, latency, throughput, monitoring and logging.
- • Hands‑on experience of agile software development practices and methodologies, automated testing and CI/CD build and deployment processes.
- • A proven background in software engineering with a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related discipline.
- • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and a desire to work in a global team.
