Job Overview
Generali Investments Luxembourg S.A. (GIL) is recruiting a Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for its executive team in Luxembourg. As Conducting Officer in charge of Risk Management and Permanent Risk Management Function (PRMF), the CRO will focus on risk governance and regulatory compliance across UCITS and AIFM platforms, in accordance with CSSF Circulars 11/512,18/698,19/733,20/752, CSSF Regulation 10-4, Delegated Regulation (EU) 231/2013, and ESMA guidelines as well as any other relevant regulations.
The candidate should have extensive experience with tradable and private assets used across all types of investment strategies, securitization, and financial instruments. Responsibilities also include oversight of delegates and operational risk management.
Lead, develop and manage the department of aprx. 12 people
Appointed Conducting Officer in charge of Risk Management (and other functions) in line with CSSF regulations and the Permanent Risk Manager Function (PRMF)
Design, implement and maintain the risk management framework, policies and procedures covering all relevant risk categories (market, credit, liquidity, operational, counterparty, ESG, etc.)
Oversee risk monitoring processes and reporting for all funds under management and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and internal risk appetite
Ensure full compliance with all Luxembourg applicable regulatory requirements
Support onboarding new funds, investments and partners from a risk perspective
Review and challenge investment proposals, portfolio exposures and risk limits, balancing regulatory compliance with business needs
Ensure robust control frameworks for delegated functions (e.g., portfolio management, central administration, depositary, distribution).
Oversee operational risk frameworks, including outsourcing risk, IT infrastructure, business continuity, and internal control systems. Align local practices with Generali Investment’s-wide standards while maintaining regulatory integrity
Collaborate with various Generali Investment’s functions (risk, compliance, operations, investments, etc.) to ensure consistency in standards, methodologies and reporting
Report regularly to the CEO, Board of Directors, Senior Management and regulators on risk matters, breaches and mitigation measures
Communicate risk topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Contribute to governance by participating in internal committees
Maintain dialogue with CSSF and external auditors as required
Respond to internal queries supporting investor requests, reporting and decision-making
Keep abreast of regulatory and industry developments, ensuring timely updates to the risk management framework

Minimum 15 years of experience in risk management within asset management sector
CSSF approved function and conducting officer role
Master degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or related field; postgraduate qualifications and/or professional certifications (FRM, PRM, CFA) are an asset
Proven track record designing and overseeing risk management frameworks in line with UCITS and AIFMD requirements; regulated and non-regulated products
Strong knowledge of CSSF regulations, ESMA guidelines and Luxembourg fund industry practices
Ability to balance regulatory obligations with pragmatic business needs
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proven team leadership experience, able to translate complex risk concepts for boards, committees and business teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative and constructive mindset
