Job Summary

To assist in providing an accurate and timely derivative and rates pricing service to sales staff, to meet customer needs at competitive prices. To assist in managing the portfolio risk generated in trading by adhering to market risk limits; monitoring regulatory and market developments and provide feedback on the market and the business to the sales and management. 

• Key responsibilities are revenue generation, governance, quality growth and driving the overall FM Commodities strategy with focus on Precious Metals business line, particularly physical trading.
• As a senior trader assist in building a sustainable precious metals trading business by discerning new trends and opportunities 
• Provide regular and timely updates of risks and pricing information as required

Strategy
• Assist in developing and implementing the business strategy for precious metals to drive growth aligned to the group
• Awareness and understanding of the Group’s business strategy and model appropriate to the role
• Maximise total product income by ensuring effective end to end client risk management/service
• Drive the client engagement for RWA optimisation to improve the overall FM product RoRWA

Business
• Achieving assigned full year budget as per annual P3 document
• Focusing on physical precious metals and leading the Hong Kong Precious Metals initiatives. 
• Create meaning by connecting the precious metals business to the Bank Strategy and Here for Good
• Take ownership and ensure lessons are learnt within the business
• Identify opportunities in the precious metal business in geographies, and client segments by working with other businesses; Corporate Finance, Transactions banking, Retails banking, and Commercial and Private Banking

Key Responsibilities

Processes
• Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulations. To embed Operational Risk monitoring as an integral part of the business process. Towards this, to effectively carry out the assigned role, if any, under Compliance Risk Management and Operational Risk Management Assurance.
• Ensure that the business meets its obligations the prevention of money laundering under the Group Policy add Standards and under local laws and regulations.
• Ensure that there are appropriate and documented internal controls and procedures in place. Monitor the operation of suck procedures and controls and regularly review them to ensure that the reflect any changes in products, systems, policy and regulations. 

People & Talent
• Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations for the team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
• Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people where appropriate and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
• Contribute to continuous process improvement and sharing best practice.
• Lead and reinforce strategic change and ensure the organisation structure and people programs are aligned and geared towards supporting change.

Risk Management
• Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them
• The ability to interpret the Group’s financial information, identify key issues based in this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures
• Comply with guidelines as outlined in the annual dealer mandate

Governance
• Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas
• Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
• Willingness to “speak up” in the event of any realised or perceived breach of group conduct rules or laws by colleagues
• Responsible for delivering “effective governance”; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner

Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
