Our Team & Opportunity
The Infrastructure Operations & Enablement team is entrusted with the reliability, resilience, and operational excellence of the technology infrastructure that powers Vanguard globally. The services operated by this team support thousands of crew, critical business capabilities, and the technology platforms that help serve more than 30 million investors and safeguard over $19 trillion AUD in assets under management worldwide.
As Senior Manager, Infrastructure Operations & Enablement, you will lead a globally connected team responsible for the operation, stability, and continuous improvement of Vanguard's most critical infrastructure services. You will drive strategic initiatives that strengthen operational resilience, enhance service reliability, improve technology health, and enable the delivery of future technology capabilities across the enterprise.
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity with broad enterprise impact. Working across global technology and business teams, you will help shape operational strategy, influence investment priorities, manage technology risk, and ensure our infrastructure platforms continue to meet the demands of a growing and increasingly digital organization.
What You'll Do
Technology Operations Leadership
- Lead the operational management of critical infrastructure and platform services across the global technology environment.
- Develop and execute strategies that improve platform reliability, availability, resiliency, and operational effectiveness.
- Ensure operational practices and service outcomes align with enterprise technology standards and business objectives.
- Drive the evolution of infrastructure operations capabilities to support current and future business demands.
Service Reliability & Operational Excellence
- Oversee incident, problem, and operational risk management activities for critical technology services.
- Lead the resolution of complex service disruptions and escalated operational issues.
- Establish and monitor key operational performance indicators, service levels, and reliability metrics.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service quality, operational efficiency, and user experience.
Technology Strategy & Enablement
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements that strengthen operational capabilities and business outcomes.
- Lead the delivery of infrastructure initiatives, platform upgrades, lifecycle management activities, and technology modernization efforts.
- Translate business priorities into practical technology solutions and operational roadmaps.
- Contribute to long-term infrastructure and platform strategy development.
Leadership & Team Development
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams through coaching, career development, and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Establish clear goals, expectations, and performance standards that support organisational success.
- Create an environment that encourages continuous learning and professional growth.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage strategic relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
- Evaluate supplier performance and ensure services deliver value, reliability, and operational outcomes.
- Partner with business and technology leaders to align operational priorities, investment decisions, and strategic initiatives.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders on technology operations, service resilience, and infrastructure strategy.
What We're Looking For
Experience
- 10+ years of experience leading enterprise technology, infrastructure, platform engineering, or operations functions.
- Proven track record leading large-scale technology operations and infrastructure initiatives.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong experience in service management, incident management, operational resilience, and continuous improvement practices.
- Demonstrated success managing technology vendors and strategic supplier relationships.
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure platforms, cloud technologies, operational tooling, and service management practices.
- Experience delivering technology lifecycle activities, major platform upgrades, and operational transformation programs.
- Ability to balance operational stability with innovation and modernization objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions in complex environments.
Leadership Capabilities
- Proven people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and talent development.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple teams and levels of the organization.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute effectively in a highly regulated environment.
Education
- Undergraduate degree in a technology-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
