Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Join us as an Equities Valuations C++ Software Engineer at Barclays, where you will play a key role in enhancing the engineering quality and robustness of our strategic Equities Quant library codebase as well as working on other projects in the Equities Valuation space. You will work closely with multiple teams across Equities Valuations and Quantitative Analytics, driving improvements to a critical C++/Lua codebase.

Your focus will be on elevating engineering standards, introducing best practices, and ensuring the platform meets high standards of performance, reliability, and maintainability. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to influence engineering practices across teams.

To be successful as an Equities Valuations C++ Software Engineer, you should have:

• Deep demonstrable programming expertise in C++, working on large-scale, complex codebases, with an extensive experience in memory analysis, performance profiling, and optimisation.
• Proven ability to influence engineering standards and drive best practices across multiple teams, i.e. automated unit and integration testing, code quality and health metrics and reporting, continuous integration and deployment, automated validation of performance and other non-functional requirements.
• Be comfortable working independently with minimal oversight, managing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Experience with Java and integration with C++ through JNI.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, including source control, CI/CD pipelines and automation, and release management.
• Experience with scripting or embedded languages such as Python, Lua, or similar.

This role is based in our office in Prague.

Entry Salary: 1,884,000.00 CZK

Upper Salary: 2,301,000.00 CZK

The entry and upper salary information above includes only annual full-time equivalent base salary and represents the typical range of pay for the role. The actual pay rate will reflect the responsibility level of the role and experience level of the individual. The entry and upper salary information does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
