Job Description/Key Responsibilities
The Application Managed Services (AMS) Lead is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery and strategic management of key Managed Services and Build Operate Transfer (BOT) engagements. This role acts as the responsible person for high-quality execution across AMS and BOT engagements. Working closely with account managers, delivery teams, and cross-functional stakeholders, this role drives operational excellence, client satisfaction, and account growth. The position demands deep technical and domain expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to align delivery capabilities with evolving client needs and business goals. The role will report to the ADMS leader.
1. Portfolio Leadership & Delivery Oversight
- Serve as the Delivery lead for assigned AMS and BOT accounts / engagements under the Applications portfolio.
- Ensure timely, high-quality delivery across diverse projects – development, support, and application management.
- Govern delivery across technologies across custom apps, packaged apps, cloud-native, mobile, and web-based platforms as applicable
- Drive Automation adaption across projects, drive delivery to ensure minimal client escalations and disruptions
- Be measured on delivery excellence KPIs
2. Client Relationship Management
- Partner with clients to develop strategic delivery plans aligned with digital transformation and modernization goals.
- Ensure a high level of client satisfaction, project transparency, and proactive communication.
3. Delivery Leadership
- Supervise team members delivering projects for each engagement as assigned.
- Ensure effective prioritization, governance, delivery health checks, and management of escalations.
- Oversee application lifecycle services – from design, build, and deploy to operate and support phases.
4. Resource Planning & Capability Management
- Collaborate with resource management and project leads to ensure optimal allocation and utilization of squads including developers, testers, scrum masters, DevOps engineers, and integration experts.
- Build capabilities within the team by mentoring and upskilling based on technology and market needs.
6. Governance Reporting & Compliance
- Define governance mechanisms including review cadence, KPI tracking, performance dashboards, and issue/risk logs.
7. Collaboration with Other Functions
- Work closely with the Transition Managers, Change Management, and Transformation teams to ensure seamless onboarding, service stability, and continuous improvement.
- Integrate input from DevOps, Integration Engineers, Business Analysts, and Functional Consultants into delivery practices.
Experience
- 10+ Years of experience in IT application delivery with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing application portfolios.
- Hands-on experience in delivering large-scale application services across multiple technology stacks (custom, packaged, SaaS).
- Proven ability to manage and scale teams across geographies in an onshore-offshore/hybrid model.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT (required).
- Postgraduate degree in Management or Technology (MBA/M.Tech) is preferred.
- Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, Agile/SAFe, or cloud-related credentials are a plus.
Skills Required
Application & Domain Expertise:
- Deep understanding of application development and support processes across SDLC and DevOps pipelines.
- Familiarity with packaged applications (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft), custom development frameworks (.NET, Java, Python), and modern cloud-native stacks (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Strategic Delivery Leadership:
- Strong experience in managing delivery for transformation, integration, modernization, and AMS engagements.
Client Relationship & Account Management:
- Ability to influence and communicate with C-level stakeholders across business and technology.
- Experience in navigating large, complex clients with evolving priorities and managing relationships over the long term.
People Management & Organizational Growth:
- Excellent leadership skills – team motivation, performance management, career development.
- Capacity planning, workforce forecasting, and people engagement.
Process, Quality & Governance:
- Proficient in delivery governance, SLA/KPI monitoring, and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Exposure to Agile, DevOps, ITIL, and application operations frameworks.
Technology & Tools:
- Experience working with platforms and tools such as JIRA, Git, Jenkins, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, and monitoring/logging tools.
- Familiarity with automation, testing frameworks, and performance tools.
