Job Description

Purpose of the role

To support the Risk Function in delivering it’s objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.

Accountabilities

• Development of strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
• Management of the risk department, including oversight of risk colleagues and their performance, implementation of risk priorities and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
• Relationship management of risk stakeholders, including identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintenance of the quality of external third-party services.
• Adherence to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintaining a robust control environment.

Join us as an Economic Crime Desktop Procedure Manager, where you will take ownership of the development, maintenance, and enhancement of desktop procedures that support economic crime risk management and controls across the Business Banking division. You will act as the central point of expertise for procedural documentation, ensuring processes remain accurate, effective, and aligned to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices. Through ongoing horizon scanning, you will identify emerging regulatory and policy changes, assess their impact, and translate them into clear and practical procedural updates. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will help drive consistency, strengthen control environments, and ensure the organisation maintains a robust and compliant approach to managing economic crime risk.

To be successful as a Economic Crime Desktop Procedure Manager, you must have the following essential skills

• Extensive first-line Economic Crime experience, with an expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks across business operations and products.

• Proven experience within the Financial Services sector, with a ample understanding of Business Banking products, customers, and associated risk frameworks.

• Comprehensive knowledge of UK financial crime legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices relating to Economic Crime and risk management.

• Demonstrate a good analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail when assessing risks and reviewing onboarding activities.

• Experience of Producing high-quality written documentation, with proven experience drafting and maintaining desktop procedures, standards, and guidance materials.

• Previous experience conducting horizon scanning to identify emerging regulatory and industry developments, and effectively communicate insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including Senior VPs.

• Apply an understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and industry guidance, including JMLSG requirements and best practices.

• Experience of designing, implementing, and enhancing risk and control frameworks to support effective economic crime risk management across the customer lifecycle.

Some other highly valued skills may include

• Recognised financial crime qualification (ICA AML Diploma, ACAMS, or Equivalent)
