Job Description

Purpose of the role

To provide a primary liaison service between the business, technology, and security functions. In order to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information, and support the mitigation of security risk. 

Accountabilities

• Collaboration with stakeholders to understand their security requirements in business processes and IT projects, to enhance overall risk management.
• Execution of risk assessments to identify and prioritise potential cybersecurity threats that could impact the banks operations and data and guide the implementation of mitigation strategies and communicate findings to relevant findings to relevant senior stakeholders.
• Collaboration with business units to develop and implement security policies and procedures for the banks operations aligned to the risk management framework.
• Management of the implementation, testing and monitoring of security controls across the banks IT systems to ensure the effectiveness of controls and mitigation of risk.
• Execution of training content and sessions to educate employees, enhance cybersecurity awareness and provide guidance on safe online practices.
• Management of complex cybersecurity incidents by collaborating with IT teams and response experts to effectively resolve cases through analysis, expertise support and project supervision.
• Identification of emerging cybersecurity trends, threats, and new technologies to address potential risks by advocating the adoption of new security solutions.

Join Barclays as an AI Security Governance Specialist and play a central role in enabling the secure and responsible adoption of AI across the organisation. Working at the intersection of technology, regulation, and business strategy, you will help shape and embed robust governance frameworks, risk management and control practices that strengthen Barclays' AI risk and control environment. You will provide effective oversight of AI risks, controls, and governance decisions, ensuring AI is delivered and operated securely, responsibly and in line with evolving regulatory expectations.

To be successful as an AI Security Governance Specialist , you should have experience with:

• AI security governance and risk – Practical experience operating risk assessment, classification, exception, escalation and governance processes for technology or AI, helping manage risk exposure and governance outcomes.

• Policy, standards, and control frameworks – Ability to draft, map, maintain and evidence policies, standards, control requirements and remediation actions in a regulated environment, enabling consistent control adoption and regulatory readiness.

• Cross-functional analysis and communication – Ability to turn complex technical, risk and regulatory information into clear recommendations, governance papers and traceable decisions, supporting effective executive and stakeholder engagement.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• AI regulation and standards – Familiarity and/or engagement with the EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001 and their application to enterprise governance and evidence.

• Financial-services assurance – Experience supporting audit, control testing, regulatory engagement or evidence production in a financial-services or similarly regulated setting.

• GRC and reporting enablement – Experience using GRC workflows, data analysis or automation to improve risk registers, action tracking, dashboards and evidence quality.
