Job Overview
The VP Remedial Management Officer is responsible for providing independent valuation and financial analysis support for the Bank’s portfolio of non-performing loans (NPLs) and distressed exposures. The role supports strategic decision-making related to restructuring, recovery, refinancing, enforcement, and exit strategies by assessing the value of underlying collateral, businesses, and loan cash flows.
Working closely with Special Assets Transactors, Internal / External stakeholders, the analyst will evaluate complex credit situations and provide recommendations that optimize recovery outcomes while ensuring compliance with the Bank’s risk management framework.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Analysis & Portfolio Management
Conduct detailed valuations of distressed assets, including corporate entities, commercial real estate, and other forms of collateral supporting non-performing loans
Develop and maintain financial models using discounted cash flow (DCF), liquidation, and market-based valuation methodologies
Perform scenario analysis and stress testing to assess recovery prospects under various restructuring and enforcement strategies
Evaluate borrower business plans, cash flow forecasts, and turnaround strategies to determine viability and repayment capacity
Analyse financial statements, management accounts, and industry trends to identify key valuation drivers and risks
Credit Recovery and Remedial Management Support
Support remedial management teams in developing restructuring, refinancing, and exit strategies for distressed exposures
Assess collateral coverage, recovery values, and potential loss estimates to support provisioning and impairment decisions
Prepare valuation reports and recommendations for internal credit committees, senior management, and regulatory reviews
Closely monitor performance of portfolio accounts and identify changes in collateral values or borrower circumstances that may impact recovery outcomes
Assist with enforcement strategies, asset disposals, and insolvency proceedings where required
Contribute to the development of new analytical techniques, workflow enhancements, and process improvements within the Remedial Management function
Stakeholder Management & Governance
Liaise with SA transactors, Credit Risk Managers, Legal, and Finance teams to ensure a coordinated approach to problem-credit management
Present valuation findings and recovery recommendations to senior stakeholders and governance committees.
Ensure all valuations comply with the Bank’s internal policies, regulatory standards, and accounting requirements.
Maintain comprehensive documentation supporting valuation assumptions, methodologies, and recommendations.
Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, and model validation exercises.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
Education: Bachelor's degree in careers like Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics and similars.
Advance level in English and Spanish
Experience: 5-8 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, corporate restructuring, distressed debt, special assets, or corporate/investment banking.
Ability to analyze and evaluate financial statements, corporate business plans, and cash flows across a diverse range of industrial sectors.
Hands-on experience with corporate valuation methodologies, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) and relative valuation (multiples) techniques.
Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
Good written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to negotiate, influence decisions, and build relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work autonomously with high accountability, while also collaborating effectively as a proactive team player.
Able to work in a hybrid mode from Mexico Citi
Preferred:
Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or an equivalent advanced professional degree.
Experience working with non-performing loans, distressed debt, restructuring transactions, or insolvency cases is highly desirable.
