The position at a glance
The role contributes to BNP Paribas’ mission of delivering transparent and reliable financial insights by producing accurate management reports for the SFM Canada team. It ensures that senior management and business lines receive timely performance data to support strategic decision‑making and effective financial planning. The primary objective is to drive high‑quality reporting, budgeting and analysis for ITO & Functions in Montreal.
In detail
- Prepare monthly internal management reports, reconciling data with Financial Accounting and adhering to Group and CIB methodologies, to deliver reliable performance information for ITO & Functions.
- Perform expense analysis and comment on actuals versus budget, prior year and business plan, supporting business heads in cost justification and decision‑making.
- Analyze cost allocation keys and investigate cost‑recognition issues, helping ensure accurate expense attribution across ITO & Functions.
- Facilitate monthly review meetings with ITO & Functions business managers, presenting findings and driving collaborative discussion to address variances.
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting cycles by gathering, reviewing and analyzing expenses, headcount and allocation data, ensuring comprehensive inputs for regional and head‑office management.
- Prepare ad‑hoc simulations and scenario analyses to support ITO & Functions throughout the budget and forecast processes, enabling informed strategic planning.
- Support North America department heads with timely financial information, key performance indicators and financial modelling, empowering them to achieve strategic objectives.
- Identify and implement process improvements in reporting production, control procedures and workflow organization, enhancing team efficiency and data quality.
- Maintain and document internal controls for management reporting, defining preventive actions and corrective measures to mitigate reporting issues.
- Ensure availability and adequacy of analytical tools (Excel, Power Query, Power BI) for business units, enhancing data accessibility and decision‑support capabilities.
Work conditions: This position provides for standard working conditions in an office and a normal work schedule from Monday to Friday. This position requires little travel.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or performance management.
- The knowledge of English is required.*
- Minimum 4 years of experience in financial reporting or performance management, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional finance and business teams to gather and validate data for management reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Apply advanced Excel techniques, including pivot tables and Power Query, to automate data workflows and produce insightful reports.
- Design and develop Power BI dashboards to visualize key financial indicators, supporting decision‑making for senior management.
- Conduct thorough expense and cost‑allocation analyses, providing clear commentary that guides business leaders in cost‑control actions.
- Facilitate budgeting and forecasting processes by coordinating data collection and preparing presentation materials for regional and head‑office review.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, document control procedures and implement enhancements that increase reporting efficiency.
- Communicate financial insights clearly in written and verbal formats, tailoring messages to senior stakeholders and business managers.
- Apply knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS principles to ensure compliance and correct accounting treatment of financial data.
