Ignition – Software Engineer II
Join Deloitte’s Enterprise Performance practice as a Software Engineer II, Ignition, where you will support the design and delivery of industrial technology solutions across complex manufacturing environments. In this role, you will contribute to system integration, application development, data connectivity, visualization, and deployment activities that help clients enhance operational performance, digital manufacturing capabilities, and plant data visibility. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate manufacturing requirements into scalable technical solutions aligned with business objectives.
Work you'll do
As a Software Engineer II, Ignition on the Enterprise Performance team, you will be responsible for supporting industrial technology and manufacturing transformation initiatives across client environments.
• Design, configure, and implement Ignition-based solutions across manufacturing and industrial operations environments.
• Establish connectivity with plant data sources, including OPC Unified Architecture (OPC-UA), OPC Classic (OPC-DA), Modbus, Profinet, EtherCAT, and message queuing telemetry transport (MQTT), to enable machine and process data integration.
• Integrate Ignition with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, manufacturing execution systems (MES), databases, historians, and cloud platforms to support end-to-end data flow and solution deployment.
• Develop Vision and Perspective applications, Python-based functionality, representational state transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (APIs), and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) solutions to support operational reporting, visualization, and analytics.
• Create technical documentation and support solution design, troubleshooting, and collaboration with client, vendor, and cross-functional teams during implementation and support activities.

By aligning high-level goals with frontline execution, we ensure our clients realize real value and improved performance across every stage of their supply chain and operations.
Location: Bengaluru / Hyderabad / Pune / Chennai
Shift Timings: 11 AM to 8 PM or 2 PM to 11 PM IST, as per business requirements
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology, Master of Computer Applications, Master of Technology, or equivalent degree from an accredited university
• 3-6 years of experience in Ignition, industrial automation, manufacturing systems, or industrial software implementation
• Experience establishing communication with plant data sources, including OPC Unified Architecture (OPC-UA), OPC Classic (OPC-DA), Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, Profinet, EtherCAT, or message queuing telemetry transport (MQTT)
• Experience integrating Ignition solutions with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, manufacturing execution systems (MES), and databases such as MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience developing Vision or Perspective screens, deploying Ignition clients, and configuring Unified Namespace or Internet of Things (IoT)-based data transport
• Experience developing Python-based functionality, representational state transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (APIs), and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) applications in Ignition
• Experience applying Sparkplug B or ISA-95 standards in manufacturing technology environments
Preferred:
• Experience with Ignition Edge
• Experience with PTC Kepware, SAP integrations, or Amazon Web Services (AWS) Internet of Things (IoT) services
• Experience with industrial data historians such as GE Proficy Historian or OSI PI
• Experience translating manufacturing requirements into technical solution architecture and authoring technical design documentation
• Experience reading automation control system documentation and drawings in support of implementation or troubleshooting activities
• Experience with manufacturing data analytics or cloud services such as IoT Core, Lambda, DynamoDB, IoT Analytics, or IoT Events
