Job Description
Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

In this role, you will play a key part in designing, developing, and enhancing data and software solutions that enable critical business, platform, and technology capabilities across the organisation. You will support the ongoing evolution of the Alteryx platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and operational excellence while partnering closely with stakeholders to meet growing business requirements.
To succeed as a Data Engineer, you should have experience in the following:
- Extensive proficiency in Python for developing scalable, maintainable, and high-performing data and software solutions.
- Ample experience with the Alteryx platform, including workflow development, platform administration, troubleshooting, and optimisation.
- Working with Agile delivery methodologies and tools such as Jira to manage development activities and deliver business outcomes.
- Designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-grade data engineering solutions that meet business and technology requirements.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders, to deliver integrated technology solutions.
- Experience with software engineering best practices including code reviews, testing, secure coding, and continuous improvement.
Other highly valued skills include:
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerised application environments.
- Environment management and deployment experience across development, testing, and production landscapes.
- Knowledge of prompt engineering and the application of AI-assisted capabilities within engineering and analytics workflows.
