Activities
As a Business Analyst supporting Gas & Power Information Systems used by more than 400 users worldwide, the role is responsible for bridging business needs and technology solutions, ensuring that software products effectively support trading operations and business objectives.
Key objectives include:
- Represent business requirements within software development teams and drive business process improvements.
- Ensure the successful implementation of business requirements, with a strong focus on functionality, performance, quality, and user satisfaction.
- Contribute to the digital transformation and innovation initiatives across both IT and the business.
- Lead and coordinate multiple projects in a non-hierarchical environment, including assuming Product Owner responsibilities when required.
Project Management
- Act as the key interface between business stakeholders and development teams, ensuring effective communication, testing, validation, and quality assurance prior to User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Translate business processes into clear, detailed, and documented user requirements for future software releases.
- Maintain and prioritize the product backlog in alignment with business objectives, strategic priorities, and operational requirements.
- Ensure software documentation and test artifacts remain accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Develop detailed project plans and ensure commitments are delivered according to agreed timelines.
- Balance and negotiate priorities while considering both business needs and technical constraints.
- Ensure consistency and alignment of business requirements across the broader ETRM ecosystem.
- Champion new features and functionality, actively supporting change management and user adoption initiatives.
Support
- Provide expert-level support and act as the primary liaison between end users and development teams.
- Analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement practical workarounds until permanent solutions are deployed.
- Develop a deep understanding of business operations and proactively recommend system enhancements to better support evolving business needs.
- Collaborate effectively with wider teams and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and knowledge sharing.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Design, coordinate, and execute functional, regression, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities for software releases.
- Validate that delivered solutions comply with user requirements, business expectations, and IT control frameworks.
- Ensure testing activities are completed according to agreed project plans, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
Contribution & Impact
The Business Analyst plays a critical role within the feature team, working closely with traders, operations teams, business stakeholders, and developers. The position promotes the adoption of innovative tools and technologies that enhance business efficiency, value creation, and operational controls. Candidate Profile
- Graduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of commodity trading and modeling, combined with a solid IT background and experience in software development within complex environments.
- Proven experience in an Information Technology or Information Systems role within the energy industry.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, showing resourcefulness, initiative, and strong organizational skills.
- Proactive mindset with excellent stakeholder management and influencing abilities, coupled with strong listening, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
